boxers as shorts, the perfect white jeans + cohesive colour palettes!

My friend and I were just discussing how silly it is that we’re always wanting to dress for a different season. In the winter, I fantasize about a bare leg and flip flops. In the summer, I long for my collection of floor length coats. Maybe you’re normal and enjoy getting dressed in the present… if this sounds like you, congrats! To be for real though, I’m pleased with most of today’s looks. This feels like a win, because trust me that’s not often the case. Not to say I purposefully share outfits I dislike with you guys, but there’s always some that you’re more confident about than others. You know?

I’m particularly into the colour palettes that I’ve unconsciously committed too this month!

outfits:

1. This colour combo has been at the forefront of my brain for months. I received this H merino sweater which is not yet online (similar range here) which serves as the perfect divider to play with powerful colours, yet stay within my comfort zone. These shorts, technically boxers, are from Schostal, which I picked up on a trip to Rome last fall. I’m into a short-short right now (if you can’t tell!) Before you think less of me, I wore my CDLPs underneath and didn’t give it a second thought. Throwing on some leather loafers and my go-to sunglasses was all I needed to justify this as an acceptable way to leave the house.

   

2. Honestly, my jeans were falling down in this photo, but I like how they looked. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect affordable white denim for over a year and these have ended that search. I’d say that they’re not actually as baggy irl. I also sized up, so either stick to your TTS or add a belt for a slouchier look. If you read my previous post, I mentioned this v-neck tee. I’ve since ordered it, and as you can see it fits great and is very nice and soft. Also, I’m reaching for these sandals even more than my Havaianas this summer, which is something I never thought I’d say.

   

3. I’m working on an upcoming activewear post, so stay tuned if that’s at all intriguing to you. Anyways, here’s a taste of how I like to dress on my way to the gym. Again, we’ve got my Xero sandals in this great brown and teal that I’m quite obsessed with. Feel free to rock them with or without a sock, in my humble opinion. I’ve had these Lululemon shorts for close to a decade I’m sure. They’re the perfect shade of navy. I guess that explains why I can’t get rid of them. Above we have my fav henley (similar here) and District Vision shades.

   

4. I ordered this blazer as part of a suit for a wedding I have next month. Clearly I couldn’t wait to wear it, so here it is with the best vintage tee I’ve found this year (a subtly paint splattered Camel Cigarettes pocket tee) and my Saint Laurent jeans (similar but $$$). Even though this base is composed of some of my favourite ready to wear pieces, the accessories really are the stars in this case! We’ve got a vintage Polo Ralph Lauren cap, perhaps the most flattering sunglasses I own and Gucci Horsebit loafers that have mentally been in my cart since I was sixteen.

   

5. I was sent Blue Blue’s lookbook while in Paris and had a tough time narrowing down my selects. My indecisiveness resulted in three new denim jackets — they’re all very different if you ask me! Here is my trucker jacket — here’s their online store and there’s a good selection from the brand on Mr Porter as well. If you’re here on the regular, I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about my Yoko Sakamoto shorts, but there’s a reason I’m wearing them in almost every roundup. Again, I can’t find the Utility Easy Short in stock anywhere, but I’m tempted to add the similar Relax Easy Short which is on sale! The tee is vintage and the flip flops are old Zara, but I do like the shape of the straps on this current season pair.

   

6. It’s difficult to appreciate how great this shirt is without seeing the colour up close. Unfortunately, I also struggled to find much Hollywood Ranch Market available online, but you can check out their Instagram here. Jeans and beads are both vintage. I’m sorry! What I am excited to share with you are these titanium wire frame sunglasses. Honestly, all you really need is a cool metal frame and sleek black shades, and you’re set. I’m travelling tomorrow and have replaced my usual rotation with my favourite new pairs from Thistles (I’m very happy with them, hence why I keep bringing them up.)

   

7. I’m sure you’re aware of my fondness for brown and blue. It’s a combination I don’t expect to ever tire from. Shockingly, this is the only solid blue button-up I own (the rest are striped.) It’s an extremely simple pairing with my brown poplin shorts, but for some reason it’s scratching an itch in my brain. My tassel loafers sit somewhere between brown and maroon which also adds some subtle interest.

   

8. One, I enjoyed this colour combo (tee is vintage, similar colour here.) Two, cinched pant legs can be fun. Three, for the guy who stopped me at the ice cream shop, yes, my Prada sneakers are very comfortable. Four, try these sunglasses if you want to add a sporty element to your look.

   

9. Speaking of good t-shirt colours! It took me a few tries to style these Uniqlo Barrel Pants, but I love how they looked here. Most importantly, my Lemaire Vibram Slip-Ons are on sale! They’re available in women’s sizing too.

   

10. It’s a bit formulaic at this point: another cinched pant, Our Legacy sunglasses, Dries long sleeve tee, Xero sandals in a new colour and a vintage plaid around my waist.
